PAKISTAN'S FATIMA ALI MAY BE THE ONLY NON-AMERICAN FEMALE CHEF AT A TOP NYC RESTAURANT

VOA SEPTEMBER 2012

Fresh off her win in Food Network’s Chopped, Fati has big dreams for her future back home.

Chopped is Food Network’s reality-based television cooking competition pitting four chefs against each other as they cook their way through three courses. For each course, they are given a basket of four mystery ingredients that normally are not paired together. They are required to prepare a unique dish using all ingredients and against the clock! Fati was the youngest to win and the first Pakistani to win. “But what makes Ali even rarer, according to a VOA survey, is that she may be the only non-American female chef in any of 70 top New York restaurants.” Hear Fati’s own words as she talks about the win, how far she’s come and what’s next for her. Even then, she was planning for her return to Lahore.
